Intense Cold Wave Hits Odisha; G Udayagiri Records Season’s Lowest at 3.1°C
Odisha is grappling with an intense cold wave as temperatures plunged across the state, with G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district recording the season’s lowest at 3.1 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The severe chill has disrupted normal life, with minimum temperatures falling below 10°C in at least 15 locations across 11 districts of the state. Hill stations bore the brunt of the cold, highlighting the intensity of the wave.
Semiliguda in Koraput district recorded a close second-lowest temperature of 3.6°C, while Phulbani and Daringbadi, both in Kandhamal, registered 5.5°C and 6.5°C, respectively.
Officials have warned residents to take precautions, especially in vulnerable areas, as the cold wave is expected to persist over the next few days. Authorities are also urging the public to remain vigilant and safeguard against health risks associated with extreme cold.
