Odisha Attracts ₹30,595 Crore Investment Intents During CM Majhi’s Strategic Delhi Visit, Set to Create Over 48,000 Jobs

Bhubaneswar, April 8 — In a major boost to its industrial and economic ambitions, the state of Odisha has secured investment intents worth ₹30,595 crore with the potential to generate approximately 48,390 jobs, following Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s high-level visit to New Delhi. The visit marks a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to position itself as a premier industrial hub in Eastern India.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Majhi’s two-day visit to the national capital was strategically designed to attract investments across critical sectors such as manufacturing, IT & ITeS, petrochemicals, and energy. His engagements included one-on-one meetings with top industrial leaders and the signing of key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) that are expected to transform Odisha’s industrial landscape.

MoUs and Investment Intents

As part of the visit, the Odisha Government signed 11 MoUs valued at ₹27,595 crore, which are estimated to create 27,000 jobs in the state. Additionally, 14 companies expressed their intention to invest ₹3,000 crore, expected to generate another 21,390 jobs.

In total, the visit yielded investment intents worth ₹30,595 crore, strengthening Odisha’s appeal as a business-friendly destination with vast potential for industrial growth and employment generation.

High-Level Industry Engagements

On the first day of his visit (April 7), CM Majhi held a series of high-profile meetings with leaders of renowned companies including:

  • Kiri Industries
  • Himadri Specialty Chemical Ltd.
  • Chowgule Group
  • IREL (India) Ltd.
  • SLMG Beverages
  • Ruchi Soya Foods Ltd. (Patanjali Ayurved Ltd.)
  • Inox GFL Group
  • OfBusiness
  • Quant Solar

These meetings focused on exploring expansion opportunities in Odisha, establishing new manufacturing units, and fostering technology partnerships aimed at job creation and regional economic development.

HCL Technologies Visit and Tech Push

A key highlight of the visit was CM Majhi’s tour of HCL Technologies’ Mega IT Campus in Noida, where he interacted with Ms. Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies. The Chief Minister explored cutting-edge innovations at the AI and IoT Labs, discussing potential collaboration in the IT and ITeS sectors.

He emphasized Odisha’s ambition to become a hub for technology-driven enterprises, noting that the state offers a conducive ecosystem for digital innovation, skilled manpower, and infrastructure development. The discussions also included possibilities of HCL expanding its operations in Odisha.

Petrochemical and Energy Sector Boost

On the second day of his visit, CM Majhi is set to oversee the signing of a significant MoU with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) for its Dual-Feed Naphtha Cracker Project in Odisha. This project is seen as a transformative development that will greatly enhance the state’s petrochemical capabilities and drive large-scale industrial development.

Further, the state government will sign additional MoUs with:

  • Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd. (ISPRL)
  • Petronet LNG
  • And other key players in the energy sector

These partnerships are expected to accelerate Odisha’s march toward self-reliance in energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing.
