Odisha Scientists Celebrate as PM Modi Dedicates New Rice Varieties

Scientists at the National Rice Research Institute (NRRI) are buzzing with excitement following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication of three rice varieties developed by the institute to the nation. The announcement was made on Sunday as part of the Prime Minister’s broader initiative to introduce 109 new crop varieties.
The NRRI, a leading institution in rice research, had released eight new rice varieties last year. From these, PM Modi selected three standout varieties for national recognition. These varieties are distinguished by their bio-fortified traits, high yield potential, and resilience to climate variations.
The dedication of these varieties marks a significant milestone for NRRI, underscoring its role in advancing agricultural research and supporting food security. The varieties are expected to benefit farmers by enhancing productivity and adapting to changing environmental conditions.
The event highlights a commitment to innovation in agriculture, reflecting the government’s support for scientific advancements aimed at improving crop performance and sustainability. The recognition of NRRI’s contributions is anticipated to boost the morale of the scientific community and promote further research in rice cultivation.
