Odisha Repatriating Students Amid Conflict Tensions

Odisha to Repatriate Students from North, West India Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

In response to the escalating military conflict between India and Pakistan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced that the state government has initiated steps to bring back students studying in northern and western parts of the country.

Recognizing the growing concerns among families and students due to the tense security situation, the Odisha government has made logistical arrangements for their safe return. “We are committed to the safety of our children studying outside the state. Arrangements have been made to bring them back,” Majhi said in a statement.

A 24×7 help desk has been established at the Office of the Resident Commissioner in New Delhi to coordinate with students and provide necessary assistance. The help desk will act as a central point for tracking student locations, facilitating transport, and addressing urgent concerns.

The Chief Minister also urged students and their families to stay in touch with state officials and report any issues or challenges they face in accessing support services.

The initiative comes as several states implement precautionary measures amid the heightened security environment following India’s Operation Sindoor and the ensuing cross-border hostilities.

Officials stated that Odisha’s transport and disaster response teams are on standby to assist with the repatriation effort.
