Odisha Raises Daily Wages by ₹10

Odisha Govt Hikes Minimum Daily Wages by ₹10 Across All Worker Categories

In a move aimed at benefiting lakhs of labourers across the state, the Odisha government has approved a ₹10 increase in the minimum daily wages for workers, effective from April 1, 2025.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi gave his nod to the proposal on Tuesday, ensuring a modest but meaningful wage boost for workers across four categories — unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly-skilled.

As per the revised structure, unskilled workers will now receive ₹462 per day, up from ₹452. Semi-skilled labourers will earn ₹512 daily, compared to the earlier ₹502. Skilled workers will see their wages rise from ₹552 to ₹562, while highly-skilled labourers will now be paid ₹612 per day, instead of ₹602.

An official from the Labour and ESI Department confirmed the development, stating that the wage revision is part of the government’s commitment to improving the livelihood and economic well-being of the state’s workforce.

This hike is expected to impact a large section of the working population engaged in various sectors, especially in construction, manufacturing, and unorganised sectors where daily wage employment is prevalent.
