Odisha Police STF Seizes Elephant Tusks Worth Rs 50 Lakh, Arrests Smuggler
The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police seized two elephant tusks valued at Rs 50 lakh and arrested a man involved in smuggling wildlife body parts, officials said on Monday.
The suspect, identified as Pramod Parida from Charada village in Boudh district, was apprehended near Telibandha Chhak in the Boudh police station area at around 7 pm on Sunday while transporting the tusks illegally.
The STF confirmed that the tusks were confiscated during a targeted operation aimed at curbing wildlife trafficking in the region. Further investigations are underway to identify the source and any other individuals involved in this smuggling racket.
This seizure highlights Odisha Police’s commitment to protecting endangered species and enforcing wildlife protection laws strictly.
