Odisha Plans to Recruit Women in Fire Services: CM Majhi
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday announced the state government’s plan to recruit women in the fire services, indicating potential changes in the existing rules to enable their inclusion.
Speaking at a ceremony for handing over appointment letters to newly recruited firemen and fire truck drivers, Majhi said, “The state government is considering the induction of women in fire services. To achieve this, we may need to amend designations like ‘fireman’ to ‘firefighter’ or ‘Agni Joddha,’ paving the way for greater gender diversity in the workforce.”
This initiative reflects Odisha’s commitment to empowering women and promoting their participation in traditionally male-dominated fields.
