Odisha: Padma Shri Awardee Kamala Pujari Dies at 74
Kamala Pujari, a renowned organic farmer and Padma Shri awardee, passed away on Saturday at the age of 74. She had been suffering from kidney-related ailments, according to sources from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Pujari was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack two days ago due to her deteriorating health condition. Despite being under the care of a four-member medical team, she passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Kamala Pujari is survived by her two sons and two daughters. Her pioneering work in organic farming earned her national recognition, including the prestigious Padma Shri award. She was celebrated for her commitment to sustainable agriculture and her significant contributions to promoting organic farming practices in Odisha.
