Odisha lost ₹864 crore in mineral revenue

Odisha Lost ₹864.45 Crore in Mineral Revenue: CAG Report
The Odisha government suffered a revenue loss of ₹864.45 crore from minor minerals between 2015-16 and 2021-22, according to the latest Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report.
The audit, focused on revenue collection from minor minerals, found that the state failed to collect funds for the District Mineral Fund (DMF) and Environment Management Fund (EMF) on royalty worth ₹4,624.58 crore. This royalty was deducted from contractors’ bills for public projects due to the absence of valid transit passes and purchase receipts.
The report highlights inefficiencies in revenue collection and regulatory oversight, raising concerns about Odisha’s mineral resource management.
