Odisha Launches Year-Long Celebration of First CM Mahtab’s 125th Birth Anniversary

The Odisha government on Thursday inaugurated the year-long celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of Utkal Keshari Harekrushna Mahtab, the state’s first chief minister and a prominent freedom fighter.

The festivities commenced with a three-day event, organized by the state government, to honor Mahtab’s enduring legacy. The Information and Public Relations Department unveiled a special photo exhibition at Rabindra Mandap, featuring rare photographs of Mahtab alongside national icons like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The inaugural event attracted dignitaries, historians, and students, who paid tribute to Mahtab’s contributions to Odisha’s political and cultural evolution. Speaking at the event, officials emphasized the importance of preserving his vision and ideals for future generations.

The government has planned a series of events and initiatives throughout the year to educate the public about Mahtab’s contributions to Odisha’s statehood and development.
