Odisha Govt Signs MoU with IRMA to Train Fisheries Officers, Farmers

In a bid to strengthen the fisheries sector, the Odisha government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) to enhance the skills of fisheries officers and progressive farmers, officials said on Wednesday.
The agreement was signed by IRMA Director Umakant Dash, Fisheries Director Sadique Alam, and Project Director of Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture (OIIPCRA) Rashmi Ranjana Nayak. The MoU was formalized on Tuesday in the presence of Odisha’s Development Commissioner Anu Garg.
Under this partnership, IRMA will provide specialized training programs to fisheries officers and farmers to improve their knowledge of sustainable aquaculture, modern techniques, and climate-resilient farming practices. The initiative is expected to boost productivity, income, and the overall development of the fisheries sector in Odisha.
Officials expressed optimism that the collaboration would empower farmers with better resources and skills, ultimately contributing to the state’s agricultural and rural economy.
