Odisha Govt Provides ₹8.96 Crore Aid to 66 Goshalas

The Odisha government on Friday disbursed ₹8.96 crore as the first phase of financial assistance for the financial year 2024-25 to 66 registered goshalas (cowsheds) in the state. This initiative aims to support the shelter and care of approximately 20,000 destitute cattle.
Gokulananda Mallik, Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, distributed the aid during a special programme in Bhubaneswar. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the government’s commitment to animal welfare and ensuring proper facilities for stray and abandoned cattle.
“This financial assistance will empower goshalas to provide better shelter, food, and care for cattle in need. It also aligns with our broader goal of promoting sustainable animal welfare practices in Odisha,” the minister stated.
The financial aid is part of a larger initiative by the BJP-led government to ensure the wellbeing of destitute cattle and strengthen the role of registered goshalas across the state.
