Odisha Govt Bans Employees from Lobbying for Transfers, Postings

The Odisha government has issued a directive prohibiting its employees from influencing transfer or posting decisions. The move aims to ensure a transparent and merit-based administrative system, a senior official said on Monday.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja communicated the order through a letter addressed to all department secretaries, emphasizing that any form of lobbying, whether direct or indirect, to secure favorable transfers or postings would not be tolerated.
“All government employees are, therefore, prohibited from exercising any form of influence, direct or indirect, to secure favourable transfers or postings,” stated the Chief Secretary in the letter.
The directive underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining fairness and discipline within the administrative framework.
Department heads have been instructed to strictly enforce the order and take necessary action against those found violating the directive.
