Odisha Govt Appoints IAS Officer Arabinda Padhee as Jagannath Temple Chief Administrator

The Odisha government has appointed Arabinda Kumar Padhee as the new chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), replacing senior IAS officer V V Yadav. The announcement was made through a notification issued by the law department late Thursday night.

The notification invoked sub-section 19 of the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1954, to effect the appointment. It states, “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section 19 of Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1954, the State Government do hereby appoint Arabinda Kumar Padhee, IAS, as chief administrator, SJTA, Puri in addition to his present duties for the time being and until further orders in place of V V Yadav, IAS.”

Arabinda Kumar Padhee, a seasoned IAS officer, is expected to bring his extensive experience and expertise to the administration of the iconic Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. The temple, which holds immense religious significance and attracts millions of devotees from around the world, requires efficient and dedicated administration to manage its daily operations and ensure the welfare of its visitors.

Padhee’s appointment comes at a crucial time as the temple administration continues to navigate the challenges posed by the large influx of pilgrims and the need for maintaining the sanctity and heritage of the temple. His dual responsibilities will include his current duties along with the new role at SJTA.

V V Yadav, the outgoing chief administrator, has been acknowledged for his contributions during his tenure. The state government has expressed confidence in Padhee’s ability to uphold and enhance the management of the Shree Jagannath Temple.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1954, provides the legal framework for the administration and governance of the temple, ensuring that its religious and cultural significance is preserved and promoted. The act empowers the state government to make necessary appointments and changes in the temple administration to ensure its smooth functioning.

Arabinda Kumar Padhee’s appointment is expected to bring a fresh perspective and renewed vigor to the SJTA, fostering the continued growth and development of the Shree Jagannath Temple.
