Odisha Government Launches PM-USHA Program to Boost Higher Education

The BJP government in Odisha has officially launched the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) program, aimed at enhancing the higher education infrastructure in the state. The initiative was inaugurated with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the state government and the Union Education Ministry on Saturday.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan, and State Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj were present at the launch event. Pradhan emphasized the significance of the program, marking August 31 as a pivotal moment for advancing Odisha’s higher education sector.

Under the PM-USHA program, the Centre will allocate financial assistance of Rs 500 crore to various higher education institutions across Odisha. This funding is intended to support infrastructural improvements and developmental activities, contributing to the overall enhancement of educational facilities and resources in the state.

“This initiative is a landmark achievement for Odisha,” stated Dharmendra Pradhan. “The financial support of Rs 500 crore will play a crucial role in upgrading infrastructure, promoting academic excellence, and fostering a robust higher education environment.”

The PM-USHA program aims to address critical needs in the higher education sector, including upgrading facilities, improving research capabilities, and expanding academic offerings. By investing in the development of educational institutions, the program seeks to create a more conducive environment for learning and research.

The launch of PM-USHA reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the higher education framework in Odisha and supporting the growth and development of educational institutions. The initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the state’s educational landscape, providing students with enhanced opportunities for learning and academic advancement.
