Odisha CM Launches Subhadra Yojana, Benefits 1 Crore Women

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled a groundbreaking initiative, the Subhadra Yojana, in the Assembly on Friday, aimed at empowering women across the state. The scheme, approved by the Cabinet, will provide financial assistance of Rs 10,000 annually to over one crore women.

Majhi described the Subhadra Yojana as a “path-breaking” step in women’s empowerment. The initiative will run from the 2024-25 fiscal year through 2028-29, with a substantial budget allocation of Rs 55,825 crore.

Under the scheme, eligible women aged 21 to 60 will receive Rs 10,000 each year, distributed in two installments of Rs 5,000. One installment will be provided on Rakhi Purnima, and the other on International Women’s Day, March 8. Over five years, each beneficiary will receive a total of Rs 50,000.

The program aims to significantly enhance the financial stability of women in Odisha, marking a major commitment to gender equality and social welfare. The announcement has been met with positive reception, promising to bring substantial benefits to women across the state.
