Indian Diaspora Excels in Shaping Global Policies: Odisha CM Majhi
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi lauded the Indian diaspora for their resilience and excellence, highlighting their leadership in science, technology, global corporations, and policymaking during the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) at Janata Maidan on Wednesday.

Majhi praised prominent Indian-origin personalities such as Gopichand Hinduja, L.N. Mittal, Indira Nooyi, Sundar Pichai, Satya Nadella, Venkat Ramakrishnan, and Bibhu Mohapatra for bringing pride to India through their global contributions.

“You have embraced the cultures of your adopted countries while nurturing and sharing India’s values rooted in family, community, and humanity,” Majhi said, emphasizing the diaspora’s role as cultural ambassadors across 200 countries.

Theme and Odisha’s Progress
This year’s theme, “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,” celebrates the role of the Indian diaspora in building a developed India during the Amrit Kaal. Majhi underscored Odisha’s progress as a leader in industries such as steel and aluminum and its emergence as a hub for sports, IT, and skill development.

“Our recognition as a sports powerhouse and strides in education, healthcare, and infrastructure reflect our commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development,” he added.

Opportunities for Collaboration
Majhi extended an open invitation to the diaspora to reconnect with Odisha, highlighting opportunities in technology, renewable energy, education, infrastructure development, and tourism. He encouraged cultural exchanges, business ventures, and educational collaborations, describing the diaspora as ambassadors who bridge cultures and promote Brand Odisha globally.

A Vision for the Future
Concluding his address, Majhi said, “Let this Pravasi Bharatiya Divas be a celebration of our past, a reflection of our present, and a vision for our future,” underscoring the importance of the diaspora in shaping India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
