Odisha CM Increases Risk Allowance of SOG Jawans to ₹25,000 per Month

In recognition of the exemplary bravery and contributions of Odisha’s Special Operation Group (SOG) jawans in anti-Maoist operations, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced a significant hike in their risk allowance. The allowance has been increased from ₹8,000 to ₹25,000 per month, marking a three-fold increment.
The announcement comes shortly after a successful joint operation in the Kularighat area of Chhattisgarh, bordering Odisha’s Nuapada district, where 14 Maoists were killed. The SOG jawans of Odisha Police played a pivotal role in the operation, earning widespread appreciation for their courage and efficiency.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated, “Today, 14 Maoists were killed in a joint operation by security forces in the Kularighat area of Chhattisgarh bordering Nuapada district. The SOG jawans of Odisha Police played a key role in this operation, for which Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has congratulated all the jawans.”
The SOG, an elite anti-Naxal unit of the Odisha Police, has been instrumental in combating left-wing extremism in the region. The hike in risk allowance is seen as a move to recognize the sacrifices and challenges faced by the personnel in their line of duty.
This announcement underscores the state government’s commitment to boosting the morale of its security forces and strengthening anti-Maoist operations in Odisha.
