Odisha clears Rs 55,783 crore projects

Odisha clears seven mega industrial projects worth Rs 55,783 crore, 14,507 jobs expected

Bhubaneswar, Jan 8 : The Odisha government on Thursday approved seven major industrial projects involving a total investment of Rs 55,783 crore, which are expected to generate 14,507 employment opportunities across the state.

The projects were cleared at the 43rd meeting of the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA), chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The approved proposals span key sectors including steel, rare earth and advanced materials, automobiles and auto-components, semiconductors, industrial gases, ferroalloys, and power and renewable energy.

Commenting on the approvals, Chief Minister Majhi said the government is focusing on balanced industrial growth across different regions of Odisha to build a strong and self-reliant state. “These projects mark another decisive step towards making Odisha a leading investment destination in India and preparing the state for a prosperous future by 2036,” he said.

In the steel sector, Saffron Resources Pvt Ltd, a JSW Group company, will invest Rs 35,000 crore to set up a 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) steel plant in Dhenkanal district. The project is expected to create around 8,000 jobs and further strengthen Odisha’s position as a major steel manufacturing hub.

Jindal Poly Films Limited will invest Rs 12,000 crore in Ganjam district to establish a 0.5 MTPA Titanium Dioxide Pigment manufacturing unit. The project is likely to generate 4,000 jobs and boost the state’s advanced materials and rare earth manufacturing ecosystem.

Another major proposal includes an investment of Rs 1,697 crore in Ganjam by a leading company to manufacture tyres, carbon black, and zinc oxide, creating 685 employment opportunities.

In the semiconductor sector, Sancode Semi Pvt Ltd will set up an Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) unit in Khordha district with an investment of Rs 1,649.98 crore. Meanwhile, Inox Air Products Pvt Ltd has proposed a Rs 1,300 crore Air Separation Unit in Dhenkanal to meet the growing demand for high-quality industrial gases.

Ferro Alloys Corporation Limited will invest Rs 2,000 crore in Keonjhar district for the production of ferro manganese and silico manganese, along with manganese ore beneficiation and a 100 MW captive power plant.

In the power sector, GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited will invest Rs 2,136.02 crore to establish a 350 MW thermal power plant in Dhenkanal, further strengthening Odisha’s power infrastructure.

The approvals underline the state government’s continued push to fast-track industrial development, attract diversified investments, and create sustainable employment opportunities for the youth of Odisha.
