Odisha Chief Minister Presents Second Vote-on-Account for 2024

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi tabled a second vote-on-account in the state assembly on Wednesday, aimed at covering government expenditures for the months of August and September.

The Odisha Appropriation (Vote-on-Account) Bill, 2024, presented by Majhi, who also serves as the state’s finance minister, outlines a substantial allocation of Rs 95,000 crore. This measure ensures that the state government has the necessary funds to continue its operations and fulfill financial commitments for the upcoming months.

The vote-on-account is a financial tool used by the government to authorize expenditures when a full budget is not yet approved. This practice allows the state to maintain its financial activities smoothly while preparing for a comprehensive budget.

Majhi’s presentation reflects the ongoing efforts to manage the state’s finances effectively and ensure that essential services and development projects are not disrupted. The bill will now be reviewed and discussed by the assembly members before proceeding to the next stages of approval.
