Northeast India to Attract ₹2.5-3 Lakh Crore Investment

Northeast India Set to Attract Rs 2.5-3 Lakh Crore Investment, Says Scindia Ahead of Business Summit
Union Minister for Civil Aviation and the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, announced on Wednesday that fresh investments in the northeastern states of India could range between ₹2.5-3 lakh crore across various sectors. This projection comes ahead of the much-awaited Rising Northeast Investors’ Summit 2025, which is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 23.
Speaking at the curtain-raiser event for the summit, Scindia revealed that his ministry had already received investment commitments worth ₹1.12 lakh crore from nine roadshows conducted across the country. These commitments are distinct from any previous investments that had been previously announced.
The fresh investments are expected to span multiple sectors, including infrastructure, manufacturing, tourism, and renewable energy. Scindia emphasized that the northeastern region’s strategic location, rich natural resources, and government initiatives for development make it a highly attractive destination for both domestic and international investors.
“The investment commitments received so far highlight the growing interest in the region’s potential. Our vision is to turn the Northeast into a hub for economic growth and innovation, benefiting both local communities and national development,” Scindia said.
The Rising Northeast Investors’ Summit aims to showcase the region’s business opportunities, foster partnerships, and facilitate investments that will contribute to its sustainable growth. The summit will bring together key stakeholders, including government officials, business leaders, and industry experts, to discuss future projects and growth avenues.
The government has been focusing on enhancing connectivity, infrastructure, and industrial growth in the region, and Scindia’s statement underscores the increasing optimism surrounding the economic prospects of Northeast India.
