Nila Madhab Panda’s Spying Stars at Busan

Nila Madhab Panda-Produced Spying Stars to Compete at Busan Film Festival
Spying Stars, a film produced by acclaimed filmmaker Nila Madhab Panda, has been officially selected for screening at the 30th edition of the prestigious Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
This year, the festival — which has traditionally followed a non-competitive format — has introduced a brand-new competition section to mark its anniversary milestone. Spying Stars will compete alongside 13 other films for the coveted Busan Awards, which span five categories: Best Film, Best Director, Special Jury Prize, Best Actor, and Artistic Contribution.
The trophy for the awards has been specially designed by internationally renowned Thai filmmaker and artist Apichatpong Weerasethakul, further adding to the festival’s global appeal.
Speaking on the selection, Panda expressed pride in Indian cinema being represented on such a prestigious international platform, noting that the film’s inclusion reflects the growing recognition of diverse storytelling from India.
The 30th BIFF is set to bring together filmmakers and audiences from across the globe, with Spying Stars standing as one of the strong contenders in its debut competitive edition.
