A junior-level Indian Navy official from Berhampur in Odisha’s Ganjam district has been reported missing after he left for duty at a Naval unit in Kochi, Kerala. Sourav Kumar Patra, 26, who joined the Navy in 2019, had returned home in December for a family wedding, according to his brother, Sameer Patra.

Sourav departed on January 19, taking a train to Visakhapatnam, where he was scheduled to catch a flight to Kochi at 12:30 PM. However, his family became concerned when his phone was turned off that morning and he failed to reach his destination.

Sameer Patra stated, “We have not heard from him since he left for the airport. We tried calling, but his phone is still switched off.” Concerned for his safety, the family filed a police complaint regarding Sourav’s disappearance.

The police have launched an investigation, attempting to trace Sourav’s movements since he boarded the train. Friends and relatives are also spreading the word in hopes of finding information about his whereabouts.

The family is urging anyone with information to come forward. They remain hopeful for his safe return while grappling with the distress of the situation.
