The opposition leader visited several villages in Ganjam district, including Takarada of Sheragada, Podingi of Hinjili, Bargaon of Aska, Ambishikharpur of Kabisuryanagar, and Bhavagaon of Khallikote. While inspecting the damaged farmlands, Patnaik interacted with farmers and women, who shared their grievances and frustration over the government’s lack of response.

Farmers expressed their disappointment, highlighting that no government officials had conducted field inspections even days after the rain had caused significant crop damage. Many lamented the absence of advance warnings, which could have helped save their crops. The lack of adequate information on crop insurance further compounded their challenges.

Assuring the farmers of his unwavering support, Patnaik reiterated his commitment to fighting for their rights. He criticized the state government’s indifference during this crisis and stressed that timely warnings and preparedness could have mitigated the losses.

“The farmers of Ganjam are in deep distress. Their livelihoods have been severely impacted, and the government cannot afford to delay assistance any further,” Patnaik stated.

He made a fervent appeal to the government to promptly announce and disburse adequate compensation to the affected farmers. Calling for decisive action, Patnaik emphasized the urgency of addressing the crisis and ensuring that the farmers receive the support they need to recover from the devastating losses.

This strong appeal from the Leader of Opposition has brought the spotlight back on the plight of Odisha’s farmers, urging the government to prioritize their needs during this challenging time.
