Nation Pays Homage to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on His Centenary

Prez, VP, PM Modi Pay Tributes to Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 100th Birth Anniversary

On the occasion of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 100th birth anniversary, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other senior leaders, paid floral tributes at Sadaiv Atal Sthal, New Delhi.

The day also marked the celebration of ‘Good Governance Day,’ a tribute to Vajpayee’s enduring legacy in transforming India’s political and governance landscape. Senior leaders, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President JP Nadda, paid their respects to the former Prime Minister.

In a heartfelt tribute, Prime Minister Narendra Modi penned an article remembering Vajpayee as the “architect of India’s transition into the 21st century.” Modi praised Vajpayee’s leadership, emphasizing his role in providing stable and effective governance during challenging times.

“Vajpayee Ji’s vision transformed India’s political landscape, ensuring stability and progress. His leadership was rooted in humility, understanding the struggles of the common citizen,” PM Modi wrote.

Born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior (present-day Madhya Pradesh), Vajpayee served as India’s Prime Minister three times—first in 1996 for 13 days, then for a 13-month term between 1998 and 1999, and finally for a full term from 1999 to 2004. In 2015, he was honored with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.

The tributes paid on his centenary reflect the immense impact Vajpayee had on India’s political and socio-economic growth, with leaders and citizens alike remembering his legacy of governance and inclusivity.
