‘My Melbourne’ Anthology to Premiere at MAMI 2024, Featuring Films by Top Indian Directors
After its successful world premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024, My Melbourne, a unique anthology directed by four of India’s leading filmmakers – Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali, Rima Das, and Onir – is set for its India premiere at the Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI) 2024.
The much-anticipated screening will take place in the prestigious “Gala Section” on Tuesday, with all four directors attending the event. Produced by Mitu Bhowmick Lange in collaboration with VicScreen and Screen Australia, My Melbourne is a collection of short films that explore various aspects of diversity, including gender, race, sexuality, and disability.
The anthology consists of four short films, each helmed by a different director. Rima Das’s film Emma, Imtiaz Ali’s Jules, Onir’s Nandini, and Kabir Khan’s Setara delve into personal and societal themes while showcasing multicultural narratives that reflect the diversity of contemporary Melbourne.
With its themes rooted in inclusivity and representation, My Melbourne has already garnered attention at international festivals and promises to leave a mark on Indian audiences at MAMI 2024.
