MapmyIndia CEO Criticizes Ola Map as a Gimmick, Warns of Fly-By-Night Products
Rohan Verma, CEO and Executive Director of MapmyIndia, has sharply criticized Ola’s newly announced navigational map, labeling it a “gimmick” and cautioning against products that lack credibility. This statement follows MapmyIndia’s recent legal action against Ola Electric.
In an exclusive interview with PTI, Verma questioned the validity of Ola’s claim that their map was developed by Geospoc Pvt Ltd, a startup acquired by ANI Technologies, Ola’s parent company. Verma pointed out that creating a comprehensive digital navigation map for a country as vast as India demands substantial investment and specialized expertise, which he believes is not reflected in Ola’s offering.
Verma dismissed concerns that Ola Maps could pose a threat to MapmyIndia’s business. According to him, the quality of Ola’s map is insufficient and does not meet the rigorous standards required for effective navigation.
MapmyIndia, a pioneer in digital navigation in India, continues to assert its leadership in the industry, emphasizing the importance of high-quality, reliable navigational solutions. The company’s legal notice to Ola highlights its commitment to protecting its established reputation and ensuring the integrity of digital mapping services.
