Manolo Marquez Advocates for Indian Head Coach for National Team in Future

Manolo Marquez, the newly appointed head coach of the Indian football team, has expressed his belief that an Indian should lead the national side in the future. The Spaniard, who recently replaced Igor Stimac as the head coach, shared his thoughts on the matter following his appointment by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

For Marquez, who began his tenure last month, this role is a significant milestone. “Becoming the Indian football team head coach is a dream come true,” he remarked. However, he also emphasized the importance of having an Indian at the helm of the national team in the future. “It would be beneficial for Indian football if an Indian were to manage the national side eventually,” Marquez said.

The 55-year-old will juggle his responsibilities during the 2024-25 season, continuing as the head coach of FC Goa while also managing the Indian national team. From 2025 onwards, Marquez will focus exclusively on his role with the national team.

Marquez’s dual role reflects his commitment to both club and country, highlighting his dedication to fostering footballing talent and growth in India. His appointment marks a new chapter for Indian football, as the team aims to build on its recent progress under his guidance.
