Majhi Launches ‘Bikashita Gaon, Bikashita Odisha’ Scheme to Transform Rural Infrastructure

In a significant step towards rural development, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday officially launched the ‘Bikashita Gaon, Bikashita Odisha’ (BGBO) scheme, aiming to boost infrastructure development across rural areas of Odisha. The scheme was inaugurated at Jankia village, situated approximately 30 km from the state capital, Bhubaneswar.

During the launch, Majhi emphasized that the new initiative would bridge the gap between rural and urban areas, ensuring that rural residents have access to the same facilities available in towns and cities. “The implementation of this scheme will end the divide between villages and towns,” Majhi stated, underscoring the importance of rural infrastructure development in shaping the future of the state.

Under the BGBO scheme, development activities will cover all 53,845 villages across Odisha within a span of five years. The scheme aims to enhance various aspects of rural infrastructure, including roads, water supply, electricity, healthcare, and education. The Chief Minister highlighted that 81% of the state’s population lives in rural areas, making this initiative crucial for overall state progress.

“The development of villages is our primary focus because the majority of the people in our state reside in rural areas. We are committed to improving their quality of life and providing them with the facilities they deserve,” Majhi added.

The BGBO scheme is expected to bring transformative changes to the rural landscape of Odisha, helping create self-sustaining, vibrant communities. The initiative aligns with the state government’s long-term vision to ensure that rural regions are equipped with modern infrastructure and services, fostering economic growth and reducing the urban-rural disparity.

With the launch of this ambitious project, Odisha is taking a bold step toward comprehensive rural development, ensuring that all residents, regardless of their location, have access to the opportunities and resources they need to thrive.
