Majhi Advocates for Disaster-Resistant Sustainable Infrastructure in Odisha

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday called for the construction of disaster-resistant sustainable infrastructure in Odisha to mitigate the impacts of frequent natural calamities such as cyclones, floods, and droughts. He emphasized this need during a meeting with an inter-ministerial central team that visited the state to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Dana, according to an official release.

Majhi highlighted the recurring challenges faced by Odisha and urged the central government to prioritize infrastructure that can withstand disasters while promoting overall development in the state.

The seven-member central team, led by Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs P K Rai, concluded its three-day visit to Odisha on Tuesday. The team visited severely affected districts, including Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Balasore, to evaluate the extent of cyclone-related damage.

During the discussion, Majhi stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to build resilience in disaster-prone areas and ensure sustainable growth for the state’s future.
