Bhubaneswar: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted the significance of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) as a global platform for Odisha to showcase its rich cultural heritage and traditions. Speaking on Tuesday ahead of the three-day event commencing on Wednesday in Bhubaneswar, Jaishankar emphasized the unique opportunity for Odisha to connect with the overseas Indian community.

Celebrated biennially, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas aims to strengthen the engagement between the central government and the Indian diaspora, while reconnecting them with their cultural roots.

“This is not just a celebration; it is an avenue to demonstrate the state’s potential and its invaluable contributions to India’s cultural and historical legacy,” Jaishankar remarked.

The event is expected to attract numerous dignitaries, delegates, and members of the overseas Indian community, further boosting Odisha’s global visibility and creating avenues for collaboration in diverse sectors.
