ISRO to Launch SpaDeX Mission on December 30, 2024

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch the SpaDeX (Space Debris Experiment) mission on December 30, 2024, at 9:58 PM IST from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
The mission addresses the growing issue of space debris by testing technologies for monitoring, mitigation, and removal. SpaDeX will use advanced sensors to track debris, evaluate techniques like drag sails for reducing satellite lifespans, and improve collision avoidance systems.
Launched aboard the reliable PSLV, SpaDeX includes instruments developed with Indian research institutions and private partners, highlighting ISRO’s innovative edge and global collaboration.
“SpaDeX is a contribution to global space safety,” said ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Somanath, emphasizing its importance in ensuring sustainable space activities.
Preparations are underway, with live coverage available on ISRO’s platforms. SpaDeX promises to enhance India’s leadership in space innovation and sustainability.
