Indian Telcos Aim for 10% Share in 6G Patents by 2027
Indian telecom operators have set an ambitious goal to secure 10% of global 6G patents and contribute one-sixth to global standards over the next three years, according to an official statement released on Saturday.
The target was announced during the second meeting of the Stakeholders Advisory Committee (SAC) on Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), chaired by Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday. The telecom industry aims to align research efforts with “India’s needs” and establish a dynamic “Standards Community” to drive innovation in 6G technology.
This strategic push is intended to enhance India’s position in the global telecom landscape and ensure that Indian companies play a significant role in shaping the future of 6G technology. The initiative reflects the industry’s commitment to advancing technology and contributing to international standards.
