Indian Boxers Secure Record 43 Medals at Asian U-22 & Youth Boxing Championships
ASTANA (KAZAKHSTAN): Indian pugilists showcased their prowess at the ASBC Asian U-22 & Youth Boxing Championships, confirming an unprecedented haul of 43 medals across various categories.
In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Akash Gorkha, Vishvanath Suresh, Nikhil, and Preet Malik stormed into the finals of the U-22 men’s competition. Senior national champion Akash continued his dominant form in the 60kg category, clinching a commanding 5-0 victory over Ilyasov Sayat of Uzbekistan in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, reigning youth world champion Vishvanath secured a hard-fought 5-2 win against Baricuatro Bryan of the Philippines in the 48kg category, following a closely contested bout that underwent review.
