India to Celebrate 15th National Voters’ Day with Historic Milestones

Bhubaneswar, Jan 22 : The 15th National Voters’ Day (NVD) will be celebrated across India on January 25, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s democratic journey. This year’s event comes immediately after the successful completion of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, the largest democratic exercise globally, and celebrates the Election Commission of India’s 75 years of dedicated service to the nation.

With India’s electorate nearing the 100-crore mark, the celebration takes on added significance. As of now, the electoral database stands at 99.1 crore, with 21.7 crore young electors in the 18-29 age group. The country also witnessed a 6-point increase in the Electoral Gender Ratio, from 948 in 2024 to 954 in 2025.

The Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, will grace the national function in New Delhi as the Chief Guest, alongside Union Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, and other key officials including the Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Commissioners.

The event will also feature a two-day conference from January 23-24, 2025, hosted by the Election Commission of India (ECI), where global election management leaders will discuss key issues faced during elections worldwide.

This year’s theme, “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure,” continues to emphasize the importance of voter participation and aims to encourage citizens to take pride in exercising their right to vote.

During the event, the President will present the Best Electoral Practices Awards to state and district officials who ensured the smooth conduct of elections, highlighting innovative outreach campaigns, technological advancements, and efforts to make elections accessible.

A special publication, India Votes 2024: A Saga of Democracy, will be launched, offering an in-depth look at the success of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections through visuals and narratives. The ECI will also release Belief in the Ballot: Human Stories Shaping India’s 2024 Elections, a collection of human interest stories.

Additionally, a short clip from the docu-drama series India Decides, produced by Warner Bros Discovery, will be showcased. The series will delve into the making of the largest elections in the world and will be aired on the Discovery Channel and its OTT platforms.

Since its inception in 2011, National Voters’ Day has been a celebration of voter awareness, promoting the enrollment of new voters, especially the youth. New voters will be honored and provided with their Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) during ceremonies across the country. The NVD celebrations, held at national, state, district, constituency, and polling booth levels, continue to play a vital role in India’s democracy.
