India Successfully Tests VLSRSAM from Odisha

India Successfully Test-Fires Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile from Odisha Coast
India on Wednesday successfully conducted the flight test of its indigenously developed Vertically-Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VLSRSAM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, off the Odisha coast, defence sources said.
The test launch was jointly carried out by the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy. The missile was fired from a land-based vertical launcher, successfully engaging a high-speed aerial target at very close range and low altitude.
Officials stated that the test has validated the missile system’s Near-Boundary-Low Altitude capability, further strengthening India’s air defence capabilities. The VLSRSAM is designed to neutralize aerial threats, including enemy fighter jets, drones, and cruise missiles.
The successful test marks a significant milestone in India’s efforts to enhance its indigenous defence capabilities.
