India-Mauritius Partnership Strengthened as PM Modi, PM Ramgoolam Inaugurate Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Mauritius, H.E. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, jointly inaugurated the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Public Service and Innovation in Reduit, Mauritius, marking a significant milestone in the India-Mauritius development partnership.
The state-of-the-art institute, funded through a grant of US$ 4.74 million under a 2017 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is set to enhance public administration and governance in Mauritius. It will cater to the training needs of Mauritian civil servants across ministries, public offices, parastatal bodies, and government enterprises. Additionally, it aims to become a centre of excellence in public service, promoting research, governance studies, and institutional collaborations with India.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi interacted with alumni of India’s ITEC and Government of India scholarship programs, highlighting the growing people-to-people ties between the two nations. These exchanges have played a pivotal role in capacity building and fostering stronger bilateral relations.
The inauguration of the institute reaffirms India’s commitment to the Global South and its role as a trusted partner in the Indian Ocean Region. The initiative showcases India’s dedication to enhancing governance, training, and innovation in Mauritius while strengthening the deep-rooted India-Mauritius partnership.
