India, Canada Set to Restart FTA Talks

India, Canada to Resume FTA Negotiations: Piyush Goyal

India and Canada have agreed to restart negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the shared goal of boosting bilateral trade to USD 50 billion by 2030, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday.

Speaking at an event in the capital, Goyal highlighted that the proposed FTA—also referred to as a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA)—carries significant strategic value and reflects renewed trust between the two nations.

He added that finalising the pact would strengthen confidence among investors and businesses on both sides, encouraging deeper economic engagement and new opportunities for collaboration.

The development marks a positive step after months of uncertainty in trade relations, with both countries signalling intent to move forward constructively.
