IMD Warns of Thunderstorms in Odisha

IMD Issues Thunderstorm Warning for 15 Odisha Districts on April 2
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm warning for 15 districts of Odisha on April 2, cautioning residents about possible lightning, gusty winds, and light rainfall.
According to Manorama Mohanty, Director of the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, thunderstorms accompanied by light rain and gusty winds with speeds ranging between 40-50 kmph are expected to affect various parts of the state.
The districts likely to be impacted include Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Koraput.
The IMD has advised people in these areas to take necessary precautions and avoid open spaces during lightning strikes. Fishermen and those engaged in outdoor activities have also been urged to remain cautious.
The department continues to monitor the situation and will issue updates as needed. Residents are advised to stay informed through official weather bulletins and local authorities.
