IMD Forecasts Heavy Rainfall in Odisha Till July 20

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across Odisha over the next four days, warning of potential downpours that could affect multiple districts.

In a bulletin released on Tuesday, IMD’s Bhubaneswar centre reported that heavy rainfall, measuring between 7 to 11 cm, is expected in the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Koraput on Wednesday. This weather condition is attributed to a low-pressure area that has developed over south Odisha and its neighboring regions.

The IMD further stated that the heavy rainfall would likely continue on Thursday, impacting areas including Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Puri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, and Nabarangpur districts. Residents in these regions are advised to prepare for significant rainfall and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have been alerted to be ready for any emergency response that might be required due to the anticipated heavy rains. The state administration is also advising people to stay updated with the latest weather information and follow any instructions issued by local officials.

The forecasted heavy rainfall could bring much-needed relief from the summer heat but may also pose challenges such as waterlogging, flooding, and disruptions to daily activities. Residents are urged to stay cautious and avoid venturing into low-lying areas prone to flooding.

As the state braces for the upcoming weather conditions, the IMD continues to keep a vigilant eye on the developing low-pressure area and its potential impacts on Odisha and surrounding regions.
