Igatpuri to Get New Film City

Another Film City to Be Developed at Igatpuri in Nashik District

The Maharashtra government on Monday approved land for a new film city in Igatpuri, a hill town in Nashik district, modelled on the existing Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagri in Mumbai’s Goregaon area.

The proposed film city, located approximately 150 km from Mumbai, will feature indoor studios, outdoor sets, and comprehensive facilities for shooting films and television shows, providing a major boost to the state’s entertainment infrastructure.

The land allocation decision was made during a meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar (Finance & Planning). Senior cabinet members Chhagan Bhujbal (Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection) and Ashish Shelar (IT and Cultural Affairs) were also present.

Officials said the project aims to decentralize film production from Mumbai and provide modern facilities for filmmakers, which could attract both domestic and international productions to the region.

The Igatpuri film city is expected to contribute to regional economic development, creating employment opportunities in production, hospitality, and ancillary services.
