In recognition of his outstanding contributions to Indian football, the Kerala government has promoted legendary footballer I M Vijayan to the post of Deputy Commandant in the Malabar Special Police (MSP) Battalion. The promotion follows the creation of a special supernumerary post for him, as announced in a government order issued on Tuesday.

Vijayan, who currently serves as an Assistant Commandant in the MSP Battalion, is celebrated not only for his illustrious sports career but also for his dedicated service in the force.
