Hema Malini Leads Brijbhoomi Green Revival

Hema Malini Urges Revival of Brijbhoomi’s Green Heritage Through Massive Tree Plantation Drive

In a heartfelt appeal to reconnect with nature and restore the ecological balance of the sacred land of Brijbhoomi, BJP MP and veteran actor Hema Malini on Wednesday called for the revival of the region’s lost green cover under the state-wide tree plantation campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’.

Speaking during a plantation drive in Mathura, Hema Malini emphasized the spiritual and environmental importance of reviving the ancient greenery of Mathura and Vrindavan. “It was a rich heritage bestowed upon us, but we didn’t care and lost it. Now, it is our responsibility to plant trees and protect them,” she said. “Every sapling we plant is a step towards preserving Brijbhoomi.”

The campaign, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide call to action, aims to promote environmental consciousness by encouraging every citizen to plant a tree in the name of their mother.

As part of the massive afforestation effort, nearly 38 lakh saplings were scheduled to be planted across Mathura on Wednesday. The initiative is seen as a crucial step to restore the ecological equilibrium of the region, which has suffered significant deforestation and environmental degradation over the years.

Officials and volunteers from various departments, schools, NGOs, and resident groups participated in the plantation drive. The event was marked by community enthusiasm, with children, elders, and civic bodies joining hands to green the sacred soil of Brijbhoomi.

The drive not only underscores the religious and cultural reverence of the land associated with Lord Krishna but also highlights the urgent need to address environmental concerns through grassroots participation.

Hema Malini, who has been actively promoting cultural and heritage conservation in Mathura during her tenure as MP, said the campaign is a way to reconnect people with their roots and instill a deeper sense of responsibility toward Mother Earth.

Environmentalists and local leaders welcomed the initiative, calling it a “green tribute” to the heritage of Brij and a much-needed effort to combat climate change and air pollution in the region.

The campaign will continue in phases, with regular monitoring to ensure the survival and growth of the saplings planted.
