Odisha Governor Calls for Effective Implementation of Welfare Schemes in Aspirational Districts
Bhubaneswar, Nov 5: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati has urged officials to ensure the effective and timely implementation of all social security and welfare programmes in the state’s Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Blocks.
Addressing an Ideation Session on the Implementation of Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Blocks Programmes at the New Abhishek Hall of Raj Bhavan, Dr. Kambhampati highlighted the crucial role of both Central and State Government initiatives in improving the lives of vulnerable communities.
He cited key Central schemes such as PM Mudra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), PM Surya Ghar Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, stressing that their effective implementation could significantly uplift living standards.
The Governor also referred to major State Government programmes including the Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana, Subhadra Yojana, and Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Yojana, urging officials to ensure complete saturation of these welfare initiatives in targeted areas.
Emphasizing the importance of inter-departmental coordination, Dr. Kambhampati called for stronger collaboration between banks, financial institutions, and government departments to ensure smooth execution of the schemes.
During the meeting, the Governor reviewed the status of TB patients and the distribution of nutritional kits, while underscoring the need for enhanced community participation. He suggested that Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), industrial houses, and NGOs be involved in outreach efforts, particularly to promote literacy among tribal girls.
On infrastructure, Dr. Kambhampati stressed the need to expand mobile network coverage and improve road connectivity to remote areas. He noted that motorable roads would enable BSNL to install towers and strengthen communication networks, thereby aiding development efforts.
The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, secretaries of various departments, and District Collectors from the Aspirational Districts, who joined the session virtually.
