Government Ensures Adequate Coal Stock at Thermal Power Plants Ahead of Monsoon
The Ministry of Coal has implemented extensive plans to ensure a sufficient stockpile of coal at all thermal power plants (TPPs) across the country ahead of the monsoon season. This initiative aims to address the anticipated increase in electricity demand and mitigate potential disruptions caused by monsoon rains, which typically affect coal availability.
In a recent sub-group meeting involving state power generating companies and the inter-ministerial committee comprising coal, power, and railway departments, officials confirmed that all thermal power plants currently have an adequate supply of coal. This proactive approach is part of the government’s broader strategy to maintain uninterrupted power generation during the rainy season.
“The coal ministry has planned extensively to ensure an adequate stock of dry fuel at all thermal power plants ahead of monsoons in order to meet increased demand for electricity,” stated an official source. The coordination between coal, power, and railway sectors underscores the collaborative effort to streamline coal distribution and storage processes.
By ensuring a robust supply of coal, the government aims to avoid any potential power shortages and maintain stable electricity production, thereby supporting both residential and industrial consumers during the monsoon months. This preparation reflects the government’s commitment to energy security and reliable power supply throughout the year.
