Ganjam district in Odisha has emerged as the top performer in the state in adopting tuberculosis (TB) patients under the ‘Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, according to health officials. The district has been recognized for its outstanding efforts in providing support to TB patients through the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative, which encourages individuals and organizations to adopt and assist those battling the disease.

At a meeting held on Tuesday, the district health administration felicitated several Ni-kshay Mitras (donors) for their contribution to the cause. The initiative allows individuals, institutions, NGOs, cooperative societies, elected representatives, and political parties to become Ni-kshay Mitras, supporting TB patients with nutrition and medical assistance.

The Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan aims to eradicate TB in India by 2025, and Ganjam district’s achievement highlights its significant contribution toward this national goal.
