Film Fraternity Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Iconic Legend Dharmendra
The Indian film industry united in grief on Monday as tributes poured in for legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away at the age of 89. From Rajinikanth and Mohanlal to Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, leading stars across generations hailed him as a “bonafide legend,” “an inspiration,” and Bollywood’s “original He-Man.”
Dharmendra, whose illustrious 65-year career included over 300 films—from classics like Satyakam and Anupama to cult favourites such as Sholay and Chupke Chupke—left an indelible mark on Indian cinema with his versatility, charm and enduring appeal.
Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, who shared the screen with him in numerous memorable films, said Dharmendra was “just different,” recalling his warmth, humility and effortless talent that captivated audiences for decades.
The tributes reflect the profound impact Dharmendra had on colleagues, fans and the industry at large—signalling the end of an era in Hindi cinema.
