FCI procures 2,642 MT Ragi Odisha

FCI Begins Ragi Procurement in Odisha, Lifts 2,642 MT
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has, for the first time, procured 2,642 metric tonne of finger millet (Ragi) in Odisha during the current season, officials said on Thursday.
The procured quantity will be added to the central pool and distributed through the Public Distribution System (PDS). This move is part of the Centre’s push to promote millet consumption and ensure remunerative prices for farmers.
FCI has set a procurement target of 40,000 MT of Ragi in Odisha this year. So far, the stock has been lifted from the tribal-dominated districts of Koraput and Nabarangpur, known for millet cultivation.
Officials said the initiative will not only benefit thousands of small and marginal farmers but also enhance the availability of nutritious millets to households under the PDS.
