Exide launches AGMi AGM battery range

Exide Industries launches ‘AGMi’ advanced AGM battery range for passenger vehicles
Exide Industries Limited, one of India’s leading storage battery manufacturers, has announced the launch of Exide AGMi, a new advanced Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery range aimed at the Indian automotive aftermarket. The new lineup is designed to cater to the increasing power and performance demands of modern, technology-driven passenger vehicles.
The Exide AGMi batteries feature spill-proof AGM-VRLA technology, offering enhanced safety, higher cranking power and up to three times the cycle life compared to conventional batteries. The range also provides superior vibration resistance, making it suitable for high-performance and premium vehicles. The batteries are available in DIN 50, DIN 60, DIN 70, DIN 80 and DIN 95 variants, covering a wide spectrum from popular passenger cars to ultra-luxury vehicles.
With the introduction of AGMi, Exide Industries claims to be the only Indian storage battery manufacturer currently offering a complete range of AGM batteries in the domestic market.
Commenting on the launch, Rajeev Khandelwal, Executive Director – Trade at Exide Industries Ltd., said the move brings advanced AGM technology to the Indian aftermarket and strengthens the company’s leadership in next-generation battery solutions. He added that the anticipated growth in India’s premium car segment, aided by the India–EU trade deal, presents a significant opportunity for advanced battery technologies.
Industry experts note that with the growing adoption of start-stop systems, advanced electronics and higher electrical loads in vehicles, AGM batteries have become the preferred original equipment (OE) technology for premium and next-generation passenger cars. Exide AGMi is specifically designed for vehicles originally equipped with OE-fitted AGM batteries, ensuring compatibility with modern vehicle platforms and complex electrical architectures.
