ECoR to Run Special Trains to Manage Festive Rush During Diwali

East Coast Railway to run special trains on Oct 18–19 for Diwali, connecting major cities to manage festive rush and ensure passenger comfort.

Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced the operation of several special trains on October 18 and 19 to accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the Diwali festival, ensuring comfortable and hassle-free travel for passengers heading home for the celebrations.

According to ECoR sources, the following special trains will be operated:

• Train No. 02811 (Bhubaneswar–Yesvantpur Special): Will depart from Bhubaneswar at 19:15 hrs (7:15 PM) on October 18 (Saturday) and arrive at Yesvantpur at 00:15 hrs (12:15 AM) the following day.
• Train No. 02831 (Dhanbad–Bhubaneswar Special): Will leave Dhanbad on October 18 and 19 at 16:00 hrs (4 PM) and reach Bhubaneswar at 07:45 hrs the next morning.
• Train No. 02832 (Bhubaneswar–Dhanbad Special): In the return direction, will depart Bhubaneswar at 20:25 hrs (8:25 PM) on October 18 and 19 and arrive at Dhanbad at 11:00 hrs (11 AM) the following day.
• Puri–Patna Special: Will leave Puri at 14:55 hrs (2:55 PM) on October 18 and reach Patna at 10:45 hrs the next morning. On the return journey, Train No. 08440 (Patna–Puri Special) will depart Patna at 13:30 hrs (1:30 PM) on October 19 and arrive at Puri at 09:45 hrs (9:45 AM) on October 20.
• Train No. 08581 (Visakhapatnam–SMVB Bengaluru Special): Will depart Visakhapatnam at 15:20 hrs (3:20 PM) on October 19 and reach SMVB (Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal, Bengaluru) at 12:45 hrs (12:45 PM) on October 20.
• Train No. 08580 (Charlapalli–Visakhapatnam Special): Will leave Charlapalli at 15:30 hrs (3:30 PM) on October 18 (Saturday) and arrive at Visakhapatnam at 07:00 hrs (7 AM) the following day.

ECoR said these special trains are being introduced to ease congestion, provide additional travel options, and ensure that passengers can celebrate the festival with their loved ones without inconvenience.

The railway authorities have also advised passengers to check the official ECoR website and Indian Railways inquiry system for detailed schedules, seat availability, and other travel updates.
